“Everything she does is on key. Very good voice and plays like a boss.” -Steve S., fan
With influences like Loreena McKennitt, Sarah McLachlan, Simon and Garfunkel, Tori Amos, and Shawn Colvin, her music is a rich melting pot of musical and lyrical styles. An adept multi-instrumentalist, Melissa was first a classical vocalist, then at 14 taught herself how to play guitar, followed by the mandolin, ukulele, Irish whistle, and the piano. She is the recipient of several regional and national songwriting awards, and has played shows and/or opened for Black 47, the Young Dubliners, the Screaming Orphans, Three Dog Night, the Spin Doctors, Sister Hazel, and Smash Mouth. Her 11th album "This Solstice Day" is a celebration of her English and Scottish roots and her deep love for Celtic and classical music.
