TOTARA ST (11 Totara Street, Mt Maunganui, Tauranga)
$10 adult, $5 kids 13-17, kids 12 and under free
Come celebrate the release of Melissa Cox’s 10th album “Crimson Daughter” at this very rare live performance in Mount Maunganui. Everyone who attends the concert will receive a FREE digital copy of the album!! Opening the night will be the acoustic power duo Izzy and Moe.
Melissa creates haunting and intricate Neo-Celtic and World fusion soundscapes using looping and computer technology, a wide variety of acoustic instrumentation, and her powerful mezzo soprano voice. Hailed as “a true fusion of our Celtic heritage with the future,” and “a swirling, medieval hip hop,” her music has been compared by critics to Loreena McKennitt, the Cranberries, Sarah McLachlan, and Tori Amos.
Her most provocative and edgy album to date, “Crimson Daughter” tackles topics both personal and taboo, including climate change, totalitarianism, her own miscarriage, and her deep love of her adopted country of New Zealand.
Originally from the United States and now a resident of Tauranga, Melissa has spent over 20 years performing professionally in the US and New Zealand, opening for acts like the Spin Doctors, Smash Mouth, and Three Dog Night. Melissa has three songs available for free download at http://www.melcoxmusic.com/
Children* aged 12 and under attend free of charge. All minors under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Food and alcohol will be available for purchase at the upstairs bar.
